5 Tips to Fight Holiday Weight Gain

The humidity has cleared and our sunny California air feels as crisp as Fall. Halloween has passed and the holiday season is finally upon us. For most people, the holidays signify a time of overindulgence and, with that, usually comes unwanted holiday weight gain. What if we told you that it’s possible to enjoy the holiday season without gaining an ounce? It’s simple and easy as long as you follow these 5 key steps


  1. Have a goal: 
    Without having a concrete goal, it’s easy to get sidetracked in the hustle and bustle of holiday parties and happy hours. Write down your goal, share it with your loved ones, and take it one day at a time.
  2. Create your plan of action: 
    Schedule everything from the types of workouts you’re going to complete to the days and times you’re going to do them. Repeat this step every week and set reminders for workouts if you need to. It’s important that you prioritize your workouts the same way you prioritize brushing your teeth in the morning.
  3. Plan ahead of time: 
    If you know there is a holiday party or dinner approaching, plan your diet accordingly. You have full control over what you eat. If you eat clean the entire week leading up to the event, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t relax and enjoy yourself. After all, that’s what holidays are all about.
  4. Resist leftovers: 
    This can be the deal breaker when it comes to gaining weight over the holiday season. We get it – sometimes the food just tastes better smashed into a sandwich the next day. But it’s integral that you get back to your normal eating habits right away or it can easily turn into a downward spiral.
  5. Enjoy yourself: 
    Enjoy every second. This has been an incredible year. You worked your tail off at work, at home, and at the gym. You deserve to let loose and have some fun.
